Adventures in Tolkien Linguistics: Episode V

I knew there was a reason I couldn't bring myself to unsubscribe from Elfling even if I constantly get intimidated by the tons of e-mail going through the group everyday. Honestly, I feel useless there, not contributing because my knowledge of Quenya is soooo basic, and not even daring to pose questions for fear of looking or sounding stupid. Nevertheless, I'm there, lurking in the shadows, reading every question, every answer, collecting information and filing them in the deep recesses of my brain. But there are moments when, after reading a post and seeing certain words and phrases, I hear a very audible cosmic "ping", and suddenly, I'm transported to Lothlorien and putting my thoughts into words...

I look at the stars
Searching for answers
Searching for meaning
Chasing a dream.

Cendan i eleninnar.

I read the stars
But there were no answers
There was no meaning
My dream eludes me.

Then I looked in your eyes.

And there the stars shone
My questions were answered
The meaning is clear
I've found my dream.
