I would like to thank the Academy....
... for honoring "The Return of the King" with those 11 awards. :D
... and for honoring ReneƩ Zellwegger with that Best Actress in a Supporting Role trophy. :)

I feel like I've been reading the book almost the whole day. On the way to the office, at the office during lunch, on the way home, while watching TV, while surfing the Internet... I just can't put it down (well, except for that instance when the Fairy Godhamster sent a message which totally alarmed me, I couldn't understand a single word I was reading!
).
"The Da Vinci Code" is the kind of book that has always got me hooked. It's a cross between Michael Crichton's well-researched and intricately detailed work, and harks back to Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose" in its mysterious and mystical twists. Certainly, I'll never look at the
Mona Lisa the same way again. :)
I'm somewhere in Chapter 35 now, and so far, this is one of my favorite excerpts:
Langdon grinned again. "The Holy Grail is arguably the most sought-after treasure in human history. The Grail has spawned legends, wars, and lifelong quests. Does it make sense that it is merely a cup? If so, then certainly other relics should generate similar or greater interest - the Crown of Thorns, the True Cross of the Crucifixion, the Titulus - and yet, they do not. Throughout history, the Holy Grail has been the most special." Langdon grinned. "Now you know why."
Faukman was still shaking his head. "But with all these books written about it, why isn't this theory more widely known?"
"These books can't possibly compete with centuries of established history, especially when that history is endorsed by the ultimate bestseller of all time."
Faukman's eyes went wide. "Don't tell me Harry Potter is actually about the Holy Grail?"
"I was referring to the Bible."
Faukner cringed. "I knew that."

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Now the book has got me Googling again.
Lo and behold, an actual historical figure by the name of Saunière, like in the book! Cool. Just how much of the book is fiction, really? Hrmmm... It's gonna be fun finding out. :)
