Across the Stars Version 4.2: Peter and Wendy
On the occasion of the local release of "Peter Pan" on home video (which I still don't have. Duh.), I welcome you all to yet another evolution of Across the Stars. This is version 4.2 (not 5, because I'm still on the Peter Pan theme...), a tribute to Peter and Wendy.

AUNT MILLICENT
Yes, its quite as I expected. Wendy possesses a woman’s chin. Had you not noticed? There hidden in the right hand corner, is that a kiss?
JOHN
A Kiss!
MICHAEL
Like mother’s kiss!
WENDY
But what is it for?
AUNT MILLICENT is now walking towards WENDY who has stepped back a few paces.
AUNT MILLICENT
It is for the greatest adventure of all. They that find it have slipped in and out of heaven.
WENDY
To find what?
AUNT MILLICENT
The one the kiss belongs too.

Most of us were exposed to "Peter Pan" in the stageplay version and the Disney cartoon, but I think the 2003 P.J. Hogan film was more true to the book than previous adaptations (for one, Peter was played by an adorable boy, Jeremy Sumpter hehe. Heavens, who could resist that boy?). Hogan also wasn't afraid to play up the innocent and definitely hinted-at-by-Barrie romance between Peter and Wendy.
I feel, though, that even if Wendy did grow up in the end, got married, had a daughter, her adventures in Neverland changed her forever. And she may have loved another man, but her heart has always belonged to the boy-who-never-grew-up... and always will.

WENDY (whispering to PETER)
Peter, I’m sorry I must grow up. But this is yours…
HOOK grabs WENDY’S arm violently pulling her to him
WENDY (to HOOK)
Tis just a thimble.
HOOK (mockingly)
How like a girl. By all means my beauty, give Peter Pan your precious thimble.
WENDY leans in close to PETER and whispers
WENDY
This belongs to you and always will.
She kisses him tenderly.
JOHN
That was no thimble.
MICHAEL
That was a hidden kiss.
An aurora lights up the sky and PETER begins to smile, like a contained laugh turning an increasingly bright shade of pink.
TOOTLES
Tis a powerful thing...

Version 4.2 doesn't look all that different from 4.1 (and the new layouts of my other sites, for that matter) except for the color schemes and a little more daring CSS, plus less graphics (which I now regret. haha! maybe I'll put in more later, and this'll become 4.2.1...). It probably works better than 4.1 in 1024x760 even if it was designed for 800x600 because everything is centered. Thank goodness I ditched the ads (except maybe if Blogspot decides to put their banner back, but at least that's preferable compared to the irritating ones that pop-up before). I'll now have to work on migrating my other sites to the less-ad riddled servers that I've recently found. =) Anyway, enough shop-talk. I'll go back to my usual OC mode and see if the layout still has glitches....
