Speculations Galore

Another report has come in through the many Harry Potter news sites around the web from a fan who was also at that recent Edinburgh Book Festival. The fan reports:

I asked JK Rowling, would Professor Lockhart get out of St Mungos, get his memory back and be in any of the next books?, she said no to all of these questions. I also asked when Harries [sic] parents were killed by Voldermort, Wormtail turned into a rat and pretended to be dead. How then did he give Voldermort his wand and robe back once he found him and helped give him back his body? She told me (after tapping her nose!) 'he hid them'.

This seems to have given way to a lot more speculations in the fan forums, most noteable of which is: Ollivander is an affiliate of the Order of the Phoenix. =)

There is another interesting theory going around, probably fueled by this:

Q: Has Voldemort or Tom Riddle ever cared for or loved anyone?
JKR: Now, that’s a cracking question to end with — very good. No, never. [Laughter.] If he had, he couldn’t possibly be what he is. You will find out a lot more about that. It is a good question, because it leads us rather neatly to Half Blood Prince, although I repeat for the millionth time that Voldemort is not the half blood prince, which is what a lot of people thought. He is definitely, definitely not.

Some fans have related this to what happened at the end of Goblet of Fire, where Harry was forced to give some of his blood to Voldemort's awful potion. Voldemort, having used the potion, must now have some of Harry's blood in him, and therefore, maybe he has some love in him now too, which could be used as a key to defeating him. Fans are saying this must be the reason for the ever mysterious "triumphant look" that Dumbledore had upon learning of what happened to Harry. Interesting theory. All the more reason to continue re-reading Goblet of Fire.
