SW OT DVD Talk

The release date for the Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD is still a few days away, but already, our local Rebel Pilot friend has reported some confirmed changes to the films:

1. Hayden Christensen replaces Sebastian Shaw in the scene at the end of Return of the Jedi as Anakin's ghost. (I love Hayden but... duh?)

2. Celebrations at Naboo are depicted at the end of RotJ also, after the Emperor's demise and the destruction of the 2nd Death Star.

3. Ian McDiarmid was put in as the hologram Emperor.

So what is this, the Special Special Edition? Sheesh. While others debate about why Lucas has the right to change the trilogy (of course he does!) I still believe that it's not a good move... from a fan's point of view, at least.

And before I let go of the irritation I've been feeling regarding those changes, let me just say... Han Solo shoots Greedo first, George!. There. Now bring on the 4th disc and all those wonderful documentaries and Episode III goodies!

Oh, and while we're talking SW OT DVD, here's a cool article about how old films are being cleaned up for digital conversion.
