... MacGyver.

Yep. MacGyver.

For some weird reason, while my Dad and I were driving to the office this morning. I started thinking of The Da Vinci Code (DVC) again, and how the legend of the true Holy Grail and the "rose" are all around us, in art, music, books... then suddenly, a thought popped into my head. It's in television too.

I suddenly remembered a MacGyver episode called "The Legend of the Holy Rose". Being an archeology buff and a big Indiana Jones fan, it figures that Mac's little forays into history and archeology would become my favorite episodes. And so I consulted a friend (his name is Google) and found this helpful MacGyver fan site.

I will never forget that two part episode, because it dealt with a quest to find the Holy Grail. And the "rose" being something that figured heavily as symbolism relating to the Grail in DVC, I went in search of an episode guide to "The Legend of the Holy Rose" just to confirm that this was indeed the Grail episode. I was right!

MacGyver: "Just tell me what you want me to do!"
Zoe Ryan: "Help me find the Holy Grail."
MacGyver: "Indiana Jones already did that. I saw the movie."

In this episode, Mac and Zoe, an archeologist and member of that sisterhood called "Mac's girlfriends", went in search of clues and artifacts that will lead them to the Holy Rose. The Holy Rose turned out to be a huge ruby, which, when aligned with the other artifacts (if I remember correctly, 3 scepters and a golden disc), will act like a laser and blast the doorway that leads to the chamber where the Holy Grail is kept.

So what's the point of hunting down this episode? Nothing much. Just that the Rose symbolism played heavily again on something involving the Grail. It seems that theme is more universal than I previously imagined.

Darn it, now I really know I took the wrong course in College. But I liked my course anyway. Maybe I should study again....
